NOT LYING

When the head of state speaks about the government’s achievements, he isn’t always lying. In fact, many Kenyans initially agreed with him, as he built his manifesto on empirical evidence. He took the time to analyse the data, allowing for thoughtful policy proposals. However, once in power, the reality of governance set in. The demands of leadership are relentless; he found himself constantly on the move, often riding on the roof of SUVs, reminding Kenyans of why he remains their best choice.

This pace leaves little room for contemplation. His focus has shifted from in-depth problem-solving to simply reiterating the accomplishments. While he claims to be addressing the challenges outlined in his manifesto, the lack of deep engagement suggests that his administration may be skimming the surface. Time is a luxury he can’t afford, and deeper exploration of issues is often sacrificed for immediate communication.

To cope with this time constraint, he turns to Homo sapiens most powerful invention: group thinking. Surrounded by advisors, consultants, and partners, he relies on them to gather information and present findings. While this approach has yield valuable insights, it also raises concerns about the authenticity of the data being shared. Reports are polished to fit a narrative that supports the administration’s image, leading to a disconnect between what is presented and the reality on the ground.

This reliance on curated information results in a cycle where the head of state, busy with the demands of leadership, may inadvertently propagate inaccuracies. The data he shares with the public, though rooted in some truth, are sometimes skewed or presented without the necessary context. Photos and statistics are presented to shape a specific perspective., leaving the public with an incomplete understanding of the challenges the nation faces.

His intentions might be well-meaning, but the complexities of governance require a balance between communication and genuine engagement with the issues at hand. A leader’s ability to navigate these challenges effectively determines, not only their legacy but also the nation’s trajectory.
